Proper Wear of the Uniform

Uniforms

Dress Blues:

Dress blues with service jacket and tie/tab.
-rarely worn. Most cadets do not need this level of uniform. Worn by color guard or at formal dining/other ceremonies depending on season.

Dress blues with long sleeve shirt and tie/tab.

Short sleeve dress blues.
-standard CAP uniform. A uniform voucher is sent in when you join CAP on the membership application and the uniform will be provided for free.

Utility Uniform:

Battle Dress Uniform
-most commonly worn uniform. Purchased by the cadet, worn in the field or during outdoor activities. Comes in both cold and warm weather fabric. West Point PX or other military distributors recommended over the Hock Shop and CAP Mart. The squadron may be able to provide this uniform. In winter, GI Issue accessories are recommended to maintain a uniform appearance, but conservatively colored civilian clothing is acceptable.

PT Uniform:

Conservative athletic clothing.
-Army PT shirts will win you much favor with the cadet staff.

Proper Wear of the Uniform:

BDU Uniform:
-Do not mix summer weight and winter weight BDU parts.

Cover
-worn on crown of head, not pulled down like a baseball cap
-flaps on winter cover are not worn down
-effort should be made to keep the top shaped flat
-cover is off indoors, on outdoors, unless on a flight line

T-Shirt
-plain, military brown

Blouse
-top button left open, flaps ironed back
-pockets all buttoned
-all insignia displayed properly (woven name tape, woven CAP tape, CAP and grade insignia, wing patch)
-pen NOT kept in left breast pocket
-pins worn 1" in, centered up and down, and parallel to the front of the collar
-spring/summer - sleeves rolled up correctly. 4" cuff, and tight.

Pants
-pockets buttoned and flat
-dark blue web belt with subdued buckle
-buckle is metal on metal
-belt exits buckle left for males, right for females
-bloused properly over boots, with blousing bands. Not tucked into boots. Blouse is pulled down over laces

Boots
-US combat boots, toe and heel shined to a high gloss. No commercial/tactical boots
-worn with tall socks, dark colored
-laces tucked in

Blues Uniform:
Shirt
-all insignia placed properly (CAP, grade insignia, ribbons, nameplate, wing patch)
-neatly pressed

T-Shirt
-white V-neck ONLY

Pants
-black socks
-sling-shots recommended
-belt buckle is metal on metal
-belt exits buckle left for males, right for females

Shoes
-highly polished black duty Oxfords
